Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have been around for more than 40 years now, and throughout that time they’ve raised more than $8.5 billion for children’s hospitals across the U.S. Raising funds has come in all shapes and sizes, too, and here in Tucson, it’s in the form of heart-shaped pizzas.
This month, the Arizona-born Peter Piper Pizza is bringing back its heart-shaped pizza fundraiser: $1 from each heart-shaped pizza purchase will be given to Tucson Medical Center.
Each heart-shaped pizza is $19.48, large, and in charge of pulling on your heartstrings. The pizza is available now until Friday, February 28 and proceeds go toward funding life-saving treatments, new equipment, and patient financial assistance.

“We have long been committed to giving back to the families in our local communities that have supported us throughout the years,” said Genaro Perez, Chief Marketing Officer at Peter Piper Pizza. “Last year, this fundraiser generated $25,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and we’re determined to build on that success for an even greater impact in 2025.”
Heart-shaped pizzas are available in-store and for online ordering, delivery, and carryout.
“Peter Piper Pizza shares our commitment to support children’s health and development, which lies at the heart of everything we do,” said Andrew Nash, Partnerships Director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Together, we are working to provide local hospitals with the resources they need to make a difference where it’s needed most.”

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
