Three-day weekends are always a treasure so get out there and do something fun. Here’s a list of local spots that are hosting something special on Labor Day or the days leading up to Monday.

Chili Cook-Off at MotoSonora Brewing

Monday, September 4 from 4 – 6 p.m.

Local breweries and bars will be competing for the best chili at MotoSonora Brewing on Labor Day, September 4. From 4 – 6 p.m., $12 gets you all of the chili samples you’d like and then a pint of beer. Plus, you’ll get to vote for the winner. The competing breweries and bars include MotoSonora Brewing, Barrio Brewing, Dragoon Brewing, Crooked Tooth Brewing, Borderlands Brewing, Saint Charles Tavern, and Substance Diner.

@Casaveratucson opens Aug. 12 at 7265 N. La Cholla Blvd., bringing regional Mexican cuisine to the former Tamarind space.

The 7,000-square-foot restaurant seats 200 guests with a large patio, and the design draws inspiration from a warm, old-world hacienda. The family behind Casa Vera is also known locally for Guadalajara Original Grill.

Casa Vera will be open daily from 3-9 p.m. Reservations are available through @opentable or by emailing reservations@casaveratucson.com.
