2020 has been a tough year for a lot of people, but the holiday season is in full effect, the calendar days are winding down, and everyone deserves to wine down, too.
Forbes recently released “A Very American Holiday Wine Lineup,” and both Sand-Reckoner Vineyards and Callaghan Vineyards made the highly touted list.

The two wineries have been recognized for their rosé and white wine.
Here’s what Forbes contributor Jessica Dupuy had to say about the 2018 Sand-Reckoner Grenache Rosé:
“Evocative of classic Provençal Grenache-based rosé, this wine is delightfully transportive. This is undoubtedly the intent of Rob Hammelman of Tucson-based Sand-Reckoner, who spent a few harvests in the Rhône Valley. Lush and berrylicious with notes of macerated strawberry and raspberry coulis, this wine is bright and zippy with a lovely mineral-driven finish.”

With Thanksgiving seeming a little strange this year, being that many people have spent the majority of the year avoiding big crowds and large gatherings, Sand-Reckoner wants to help you feel warm and fuzzy this holiday season with its wine deliveries.
When Forbes’ Dupuy got to tasting white wines from all around the country, she grew fond of the 2017 Callaghan Vineyards Greg’s Petit Manseng.
“From one of Arizona’s premier producers, this versatile wine shows the Petit Manseng grape’s strength, which originally hails from southwest France, in the Arizona soils. Broad and rich with tropical fruit and lush lemon, this grape has retained a nervy acidity that leads from the tip of the tongue straight to a juicy, lengthy finish.”

Callaghan Vineyards is also offering delivery or pickup — an incredible addition to any Thanksgiving dinner with the family and friends, or perhaps a nice companion to keep you company while you enjoy holiday movies in your living room.
There are plenty of other wonderful wineries in the region, and if you’re having trouble deciding which bottles to buy for the holidays, these two options should be a great start.
Callaghan Vineyards is located at 336 Elgin Rd., Elgin, Arizona 85611. For more information, visit callaghanvineyards.com. Sand-Reckoner Vineyards has a tasting room in Tucson, located at 510 N. 7th Ave., suite 170. For more information, visit sand-reckoner.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
