Last week, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort announced its brand-new non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beverage program, “Free Spirited by Loews.”
“At Loews Hotels, we recognize that our guests have varying preferences when it comes to beverage choices, and we are dedicated to providing an inclusive and elevated experience for all,” said Mark Weiss, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage at Loews Hotels & Co.

The team at the resort is embracing the growing trend of mindful consumption and now features signature beverages crafted “for those who choose to imbibe less or not at all.” According to research by NielsenIQ, sales of NA beers, wines, and spirits have grown by 31% over the past year, amounting to about $510 million in revenue.
With this new beverage program, the Catalina Foothills resort’s mixology talent has mixed up some impressive drinks that feature locally sourced ingredients and unique flavor combinations.
“Free Spirited by Loews underscores our commitment to innovation and guest-centricity, and we are looking forward to showcasing our properties’ mixology teams and their expertise,” said Weiss.
Reflecting the availability of local suppliers, popular flavors in the Sonoran Desert, and the creativity of the resort’s mixology team, the program is launching with two initial beverages.
Sonoran Sipper (non-alcoholic beverage)
Lyre’s agave blanco (NA), lime juice, citrus agave cordial (NA), prickly pear syrup, dehydrated lime wheel

Cascade Spritz (low-alcohol beverage)
Lyre’s Italian syrup (NA), lemon juice, citrus agave cordial (NA), Prosecco, club soda, orange twist

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort has integrated these specialty cocktails into its standard cocktail menus, with each drink clearly marked by an icon denoting its low or no ABV content. This approach ensures that folks seeking alternatives to traditional alcoholic beverages “have access to a wide range of options while providing complete transparency and clarity.”
Beyond the bar, Free Spirited by Loews will also be available for catering and event planning and into the brand-wide programming throughout the year, such as the resort’s annual Summerfest.
Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is located at 7000 N. Resort Dr. For more information, visit loewshotels.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
