Michelin-star chef headlines Hacienda Solana opening event

Solana Guest Ranch will debut a new dining concept this April, introducing Hacienda Solana in the Tanque Verde Valley. The restored property blends history, hospitality, and immersive culinary programming. Additionally, the concept centers on RSVP-only dining experiences designed for intimate groups.

The launch follows a two-year renovation of the former 1948 dude ranch. The team reimagined the site as a destination for dining, events, and overnight stays. As a result, the property now features a 1930s hacienda, a courtyard, and the Tack Room Saloon.

“Solana isn’t just a venue, it’s a living piece of Tucson’s story,” Solana Guest Ranch & Hacienda Solana owner John Jacobs said in a press release. “For decades this was a true Tanque Verde guest ranch, and in restoring it we’re bringing back something the community almost lost: a quiet, authentic desert gathering place where people can celebrate, connect, and experience the heritage of this valley. We’re proud to protect the history, invest in the neighborhood, and create a destination that supports local jobs, local makers, and Tucson’s cultural identity while preserving the spirit of the last lost guest ranch.”

A progressive, immersive dining experience

Hacienda Solana will anchor its concept around Curated Culinary Tours. These RSVP-only dinners guide guests through multiple spaces across the estate. Each experience unfolds as a three-act journey with a structured progression of food and drink.

The inaugural tour will explore Italy, Spain, and Cuba through distinct courses and pairings. Guests will move through the hacienda, courtyard, and saloon as the evening develops. Consequently, the format creates a sense of movement and narrative throughout the meal.

Each ticket includes cocktails, mocktails, and a series of small plates that build into a full dinner. The experience continues with wine and cheese and a final outdoor dining moment. Guests dine under eucalyptus trees in a private courtyard setting.

“This isn’t dinner service as usual,” chef Kenneth Foy said in a press release. “We’re building a three-act experience with a team that can execute at a high level — course after course, moment after moment — so guests feel like they’re moving through a story. It’s intimate, it’s immersive, and it’s meant to be remembered.”

Chef Foy leads the culinary program

Foy will lead all food and beverage operations at Hacienda Solana. Foy brings a strong local reputation as a two-time Tucson Iron Chef and founder of Dante’s Kitchen + Cocktails. He will oversee dining experiences, brunch service, and private events across the ranch.

Additionally, Foy will work with a full culinary team designed for high-level execution. The team will manage multiple service environments throughout each evening. As a result, guests can expect consistency across every course and setting.

Michelin-starred debut event in April

On April 18, Hacienda Solana will also host a one-night opening event featuring Michelin-starred chef Christian Hunter, brought by Culinary Travels Worldwide host Jennifer Davis-Paige. The ticketed dinner will mark the public debut of the concept. Only 150 guests will attend, including a limited number of VIP tickets.

Hunter earned a Michelin star for Atelier in Chicago. He also received the 2023 Michelin Guide Young Chef Award. He now owns and runs Hooligan. His appearance in Tucson will highlight the city’s status as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

Additionally, the event will support the Pima Foundation Culinary Program. A portion of proceeds will fund scholarships and training for local culinary students. Therefore, the evening will connect national talent with Tucson’s future chefs.

Weekend brunch and overnight stays

In addition to evening experiences, Hacienda Solana will offer weekend brunch. The brunch service will open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. However, seating will remain limited.

Guests can also extend their visit with overnight accommodations. The property includes Solana Spanish Villas and luxury glamping options. These stays create a full “stay and dine” experience in the Sonoran Desert.

Additionally, the ranch will host weddings, retreats, and private events. The secluded setting offers a quiet alternative to traditional venues. As a result, the property positions itself as both a dining destination and event space.

Reservations and membership access

Hacienda Solana will release reservations through monthly drops. Guests must join a standby list to receive booking announcements. Because of limited capacity, reservations will remain highly controlled.

Meanwhile, the ranch will offer Solana Society memberships. Members will receive early access to reservations and exclusive dining events. They will also gain preferred access to lodging and private bookings.

Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona.
