Monday Munchies is supported by Botanica.
Over at 6444 N. Oracle Rd., the folks at Redbird Scratch Kitchen + Bar have been making some big moves. In just a little over a year, they’ve kept the menu interesting with new specials and limited-time cocktails, all while planning for a major expansion to the Sam Hughes neighborhood.
If you’re in the mood for ooey gooey comfort food, Redbird’s mac & cheese is where it’s at — “golden, creamy, and downright irresistible.”

They’re pumpin’ these out with pipette pasta that’s been coated in a triple cheese sauce. Once the sauce has seeped around the noodles, it’s topped with Gruyère cheese, giving it rich, velvety depth before sprinkled with black pepper breadcrumbs.
Add thick-cut bacon or roasted green chili to the mix for $2 each, and during Happy Hour (3 – 6 p.m. on Monday – Friday), score $2 off.
Seasonal Cocktails
Often, the team at Redbird gets crafty behind the bar — creating new concoctions that mirror the season.
For St. Patrick’s Day, they’re serving the Lucky Charm: an exclusive cocktail made with freshly muddled kiwi, a splash of lemon juice, Tito’s vodka, and a vibrant green apple liqueur to celebrate the Irish holiday.
“This cocktail is as good as gold.”
In Other News…
In January, we announced that Redbird is teaming up with Sonoran House for The Village at Sam Hughes. The brand-new partnership is planning to open sometime this year inside the former Flora’s Market Run at 2513 E. Sixth St.
“We are super excited to continue to serve our community with comfort classics and craft cocktails while providing value with our hospitality,” said Sergio Pinon of Redbird. “We are delighted to receive all the support this last year and make Redbird an iconic destination for foodies.”
Sonoran House and Redbird aim to open sometime this summer — stay tuned for the official dates.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
