Ah, it’s the season of rumbles up high, lightning displays in the sky, and sprinkles crashing onto my car’s windshield, reminding me that my wiper blades are cracked and dry.
Pueblo Vida Brewing Company is celebrating the season with two new beers to enjoy in their taproom or at home — possibly when we’re getting some rainfall, too, here in Tucson. Oh, that would be quite a coincidence, wouldn’t it? Drinking a Microburst hazy pale ale or a Monswoon hazy IPA while the scent of creosote joins in on the fun.
Okay, here are the two new Monsoon-themed brews to check out at Pueblo Vida Brewing this summer:
- Microburst – Hazy Pale Ale with Mosaic, Ella, Simcoe hops
- “Just like the sudden, powerful downbursts that inspire its name, Microburst hits you with a refreshing gust of tropical and citrus notes. Grab a 4-pack and brace yourself for a delightful downpour of flavor!”
- Monswoon – Hazy IPA with Hallertau Blanc, Idaho 7, and Citra hops
- “Monsoons are a special treat for all of us desert-dwellers and this beer is our love letter to those remarkable storms here in Tucson! We love a good summer shower and are hoping for lots of it this season!”

Try the new brews while they’re available!
Bear Down Beer
In October of 2023, The University of Arizona and Pueblo Vida Brewing announced the debut of the Wildcat Cerveza.
Linette Antillon and Kyle Jefferson, the owners/founders of Pueblo Vida Brewing, share a deep love and connection to Tucson and have made it their home since graduating from the University of Arizona in 2009.
Wildcat is brewed in a traditional Mexican amber style which is more flavorful with a touch of sweetness balanced with a dry finish. It is smooth, crisp, and refreshing and if you really want to bear down, it pairs perfectly with a lime. It’s also a perfect summer beer to enjoy outdoors, while gathered around a barbecue grill, or any other casual gathering.

Pueblo Vida Brewing Company is located at 115 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, visit pueblovidabrewing.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
