Find Beyond Meat & Impossible Burgers at these Tucson restaurants

Jun 19, 20193 min read

Although the burger is one of America’s most iconic foods, it may not be beef forever.

Thanks to an increased demand for sustainability and environmental consciousness, competition for plant-based burgers has also increased.

While house-made patties can be exceptional (looking at you Urban Fresh and Beaut Burger), they don’t taste like beef. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but the market for beefy veggie patties is on the rise.

At the moment, two companies are dominating the beef-like plant-based burger market: Beyond Meat with their Beyond Burger, and Impossible Foods with their Impossible Burger.

Both burgers feature the color, texture, and even the flavor of beef, and other national companies are taking notice. Restaurant chains such as Burger King, Red Robin, and White Castle recently added Impossible Burger to their repertoire, contributing to a nationwide shortage.

Here’s a list of Tucson restaurants to find these burgers. Due to the shortage noted above, please be aware that the restaurants listed with the Impossible Burger are out of stock right now. However, they hope to bring it back once the shortage is over.

Restaurants with the Beyond Burger from Beyond Meat

Plaza Eats’ Beyond Burger showcases the  Beyond Meat patty with avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, and dill pickle on a brioche bun.

Union’s Veggie Burger is topped with avocado smash, arugula, pickled onions, and heirloom tomato.

Vivace

6440 N. Campbell Ave.

It’s a stretch to call the Italian Style Vegetarian Burger a burger, but we’re not complaining. It’s served open-faced over garlic toast with Burrata cheese and a fresh tomato-basil topping.

Restaurants with the Impossible Burger by Impossible Foods

Ask to replace your beef patty with an Impossible Burger in the future. Remember, there’s a shortage on the Impossible Burger, so most of these places are out of stock at the moment — but once that shortage is over, these will likely be the places to go for it. Call before visiting to check if they have it in stock right now.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
