Steak ‘n Shake to Replace Burger King at UA Student Union

Steak ‘n Shake to Replace Burger King at UA Student Union

Jun 21, 20171 min read

Steak ‘n Shake Tucson devotees will no longer have to drive to Tempe.

Instead, they’ll have to compete with University of Arizona students for parking at the Student Union Memorial Center at 1303 E. University Blvd.

The Indianapolis-based burger chain posted a “coming soon” sign at the space that previously housed Burger King.

Guests expecting the chain’s signature diner-style environment will have to settle with the Student Union’s food court tables instead. They’ll have the namesake “steakburgers” and hand-dipped milkshakes, however.

No official date has been announced, but you can bet Steak ‘n Shake will want it open before the fall semester begins in August.

Opened in 2023, @kabulcorner is Tucson’s only Afghan restaurant, created to provide jobs, community, and a taste of home for Afghan families who made Tucson their new home.

Today, Sediq Haidari and his family serve traditional Afghan dishes like bolani, mantou, Kabuli palaw, fresh tandoori naan, and house-made chaka, while preserving recipes and traditions rooted in Afghanistan’s rich history.

With its warm hospitality, authentic food, and strong sense of community, Kabul Corner has become a little piece of home in the Sonoran Desert. ❤️

“These dishes are famous not only in Afghanistan, but in neighboring countries like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iran, and even parts of China. It sits right between Indian and Arabic food.” Sediq Haidari
