With the recent announcement regarding the closing of Dillinger Taproom, located within the historic Coronado Hotel at 402 E. 9th St., David and Johnna Meek have stepped into the spotlight to announce their plans to repurpose the location as the home of their new concept, TraXide Taproom.
The Meeks, owners of Art and Sol Tattoo Gallery as well, have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Dillinger Brewing, spanning over six years. This collaboration has birthed memorable brews, including the “Sideshow Sour” and brought forth special tattoo events, including National Tattoo Day and the local charity event, Tucson Day.
The transition of this space is promised to introduce fresh new offerings to patrons while creating a hub for locals and visitors alike.
David expressed his enthusiasm for the venture: “We are excited to infuse this Historic Fourth Avenue location with energy and creativity. Our concept will pay homage to the Coronado Hotel’s past while embracing the unique southwest style that defines Tucson. The proximity to the University of Arizona adds an exciting dimension to our vision.”
The Coronado Hotel itself has played a significant role in the Tucson community, having once been home to The Coronet. David and Johnna’s venture aims to honor this heritage while ushering in a new era of experiences, dining, and entertainment.
The new concept will continue to be a haven for craft beer enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of craft beer and ensuring there’s something on tap for every palate.
