Tucson Times Square NYE Block Party at Hotel Congress

Tucson Times Square NYE Block Party at Hotel Congress

Dec 19, 20142 min read

What’s better than watching the ball drop at midnight in Times Square? Um…how about watching a 15′ tall TACO drop at Hotel Congress right here in Tucson?

Hotel Congress is determined to bring Times Square to Tucson with a southwestern twist. What the taco is made of is unclear (all-natural, local, organic paper mache?), but regardless, what more could a Tucsonan ask for than a 15′ taco?

In true Hotel Congress fashion, the taco is only the tip of the iceberg for the big New Years Eve fiesta. Starting at 8 p.m., guests will have access to a free photo booth, the Tequila Cantina, and three stages of live entertainment to last the whole night. Performers include Sergio Mendoza Y La Orkesta, The Zsa Zsas, Strange Family Circus, DJ Andrew Shuta and PC Party, Tom Heavy and the Partymakers and Neon Eon. Ticket holders also receive a champagne toast and complimentary party favors.

You still have a chance to snag tickets for $15 until December 24. Starting on December 25 NYE tickets are $25 until they sell out, which Congress expects they will.

If you waited to buy tickets the hotel room packages have already sold out.  The lucky few who’ve already made reservations are receiving Hotel Congress merchandise, special party favors, champagne, and more. Good luck next year.

  • Lobster tostadas
  • Scallop ceviche
  • Mint & jalapeño lamb meatballs
  • Bacon & Cotija stuffed mushrooms
  • Cayenne chocolate brownies
  • Fried bread pudding

Tucson’s barbecue options range from food trucks to full-service dining rooms. Some focus on classic Texas-style plates with butcher paper and simple sides. Others experiment with fusion dishes that blend barbecue with Mexican and Southwestern flavors. This variety gives diners plenty of options, whether they want a quick lunch or a sit-down meal.
