COMING SOON: Vitality Bowls to open its first Tucson location

May 11, 20233 min read

Vitality Bowls, the superfood café specializing in açaí bowls, smoothies, grain bowls, salads, and wraps, recently announced the opening of its first Tucson location on Friday, May 19. The new spot will be operated by local resident and owner Wendy Alexonis-Gose, and business partner Leah Ward.

“I’m thrilled to introduce Vitality Bowls to Tucson and share our delicious and clean food options with the community,” said Alexonis-Gose, who also owns six F45 Training locations in Tucson. “Our broad menu offers something for everyone, and we look forward to becoming a go-to destination for healthy food. We’ve generated incredible buzz and success in operating our F45 Training businesses in Tucson, and I am confident that Vitality Bowls will be an additional benefit for fitness enthusiasts and all community members in the area.”

The new café is located at 2959 N. Swan Rd. in the Synergy Plaza — near Savaya Coffee — and will have access to the patio for outdoor dining. The restaurant will be the second Vitality Bowls location in the state of Arizona, joining a café in Gilbert.

“It’s all very exciting,” said Ward. “This is both my business partner’s and my first time ever diving into the food industry. We have definitely learned a lot and have so much more respect for all business owners who have made the food industry their careers.”

What’s on the menu?

Vitality Bowls offers a variety of tasty options, such as the Dragon Bowl (featuring pitaya, pineapple, coconut milk, goji berries, and bee pollen), Green Bowl (with Graviola, strawberries, kale, dates, spirulina, and hemp seeds), and their signature Vitality Bowl (with organic açaí, strawberries, banana, organic granola, and honey).

In addition to açaí bowls and smoothies, the brand boasts a diverse menu that includes warm and savory items including salads, grain bowls, wraps, and toasts loaded with all-natural, grass-fed and sous-vide prepared meats, nutritional ingredients, and a wide range of superfood toppings.

Options include the Vitality Wrap made with hummus, avocado, super greens, grains, roasted potato, radish, pickled red onion, lemon tahini vinaigrette, vegan garlic aioli, and a super seed crunch wrapped in a tomato basil tortilla. Plus, the Chimichurri Steak and Potato Bowl is made with super greens, grass-fed steak, grains, roasted potato, roasted tomato, radish, and chimichurri.

Vitality Bowls also offers signature cold-pressed juices and energy and immunity-boosting shots made with ginger, turmeric, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Fun fact: All açaí bowls and smoothies are prepared without any ingredient fillers like ice, frozen yogurt, or artificial preservatives.

The new Vitality Bowls Tucson location will also be exclusively offering six new menu items not yet available to guests nationwide, including the Blue Bliss Bowl, Beach Bowl, Island Bowl, and three new smoothies. The new Purple Passion smoothie features a blend of pineapple, coconut, mango, blue spirulina, banana, pitaya, and apple juice. Additional smoothies being offered include the Groovy Guava and Piña Colada.

Grand Opening Celebration

To celebrate the grand opening weekend, Vitality Bowls will be offering exclusive deals, including Buy-One-Get-One-Free on all açaí bowls on Friday, May 19, and Buy-One-Get-One half off on any menu item purchased on Saturday, May 20 – Sunday, May 21.

“Every Vitality Bowls serves as a place where anyone can come in and enjoy a nutritious meal in a vibrant café setting,” said Tara Gilad, founder and owner of Vitality Bowls. “We look forward to seeing Wendy and Leah grow their business in Tucson, and sharing the Vitality Bowls message with the community.”

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
