It’s finally under 90 degrees outside, so it’s time to cuddle with some cozy, rustic meals.
Poland is about 40 degrees colder than Tucson, so they’ve been whipping up cold-weather food for a while. At Polish Cottage, enjoy some Polish dumplings, known as Pierogi.
The pierogi are available in four varieties: Beef, Potatoes and Cheese, Sauerkraut and Mushroom, and Sweet Farmer’s Cheese. Three toppings are available: bacon, caramelized onion, and sour cream.
Pierogi aren’t fancy, but they don’t need to be. The soft little dumplings don’t feature any phenomenal ingredients, but they excel at providing comfort.
To venture deeper into Polish cuisine, order the Polish Combo Plate.
Available in portions for one or two people, the Polish Combo Plate features pierogi with a pork and rice-stuffed cabbage roll, smoked Polish sausage, hunter’s stew, and a roll of bread.
Hunter’s stew, also known as bigos staropolski, features a blend of shredded cabbage and chopped meats. It’s not the prettiest stew on the block, but it will fill and warm you right up.
Polish Cottage is located at 4520 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, call (520) 777-5407 or visit polishcottageaz.com.
