Regional hamburger chain White Castle announced plans to open Arizona’s first location at The Block in Scottsdale in 2019.
“We are thrilled to add this iconic brand to our lineup at The Block,” Palmer Development Group managing partner Daniel Lupien said in a press release. “The fact that White Castle chose our site for their first corporate expansion west of St. Louis is a real testament to the dynamics of the area and specifically The Block at Pima Center. They certainly had many options to choose from.”
White Castle is working with Mainspring Capital and Palmer Development Group to design and construct the new restaurant near Scottsdale’s 101 Entertainment Corridor.
The restaurant is expected to provide 50 to 75 jobs.
Billy Ingram founded White Castle in 1921 to sell small square hamburgers, now known as sliders. While the burger chain earned a cult following in films such as Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, the company did not franchise, limiting expansion. The company now features over 420 outlets. The Scottsdale location will be the first White Castle family-owned location west of the Mississippi River.
