Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar Brings Expansive Menu to New Tucson Mall Location

In a near perfect blend of fancy meets casual, Spokane-based Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar has opened at the Tucson Mall in the location that formerly housed short-lived Brio Tuscan Grille.

Uber-comfortable and wide open, Twigs’ space seats 264 including one of the coolest glass enclosed private dining rooms that seats up to 40. The bar, which opens up to the dining room, features bar top-to-ceiling shelves packed with colorful bottles, ideal for hinting at the similarly colorful and playful cocktail menu.

Twigs “American regional” menu, which includes a variety of starters, salads, and entrees – both for lunch and dinner – truly offers something for everyone. And don’t let the “martini bar” moniker fool you: Twigs is fully family friendly.

Starters range from Mediterranean inspired items such as Twigs Hummus Plate and Moroccan Beef to Hawaiian items like Kalua Pork Tacos and Ahi Sashimi. Italy is represented in the form of Bruschetta Flatbread and Calamari a la Romana while more American-inspired items, such as BBQ Chicken Flatbread are also available. And that’s just a handful of the starters. Check out Twigs appetizer menu in full here.

When it comes to your full meal, it might take a minute to decide. The menu, which truly is expansive, includes  a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and decadent entrees, like Pork Osso Bucco, Truffle Penne, Crab Mac and Cheese, and more.

The Pork Osso Bucco, for example, is slow-cooked and served over chive sour cream mashed potatoes, with seasonal vegetables and a Marsala sauce. That’s the way to do Osso Bucco, bucko. And of the nine pizza options, check out what’s in this standout: The Polynesian Pizza features a mango chili sauce with shredded Kalua pork, red onion, bacon, pineapple, mozzarella, peppers. and cilantro. Hardly your standard Hawaiian with ham pineapple.

Twigs rolls out no stops when it comes to drinks, either. After all, it is Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar. Not one to skimp on options, Twigs features 20 original cocktails. Traditional martinis are available with your choice of top shelf vodka or gin. Original cocktails include playful drinks like the Razitini with vodka, raspberry liqueur, fresh lime, and sweet and sour and the Cucumber Lime Basil Kazi with cucumber lime vodka, triple sec, fresh basil, and lime. Local craft beer and wine is also available.

In the truest sense of the word, “expansive,” (sensing a theme?) Twigs also offers a variety of gluten-free options, such as Twigs Crab & Artichoke Dip made with fresh blue crab, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, peppers, and onions served with toasted gluten-free bread.

Lastly, be sure to check out happy hour – the perfect cap to a Tucson Mall shopping outing. Seven appetizers are available at around a 30% discount from 3 – 6 p.m., and as a reverse happy hour from 9 p.m. until closing.

Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar is located at 150 W. Wetmore at the Tucson Mall. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday & Saturday and until 10 p.m. the remainder of the week. For more information, including menu, visit twigsbistro.com.

Indian food represents many different regions and cooking styles, featuring far more than the curries that it is popularly known for — though those are certainly found in abundance at Tucson’s Indian restaurants. For religious reasons, beef and pork are not common in the Indian diet, but carnivores can enjoy plenty of chicken, lamb, and seafood dishes. Most Indian restaurants have large sections of their menus devoted to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes, too.

Kitchens are almost always accommodating about adjusting spice levels but as a rule of thumb, the hottest dishes are the vindaloos, while the mildest are the kormas and biriyanis.
