A dream team of pizza, beer & video games

A new spot for a snazzy pizza party is opening up soon in midtown.

Transplant, a Detroit-style pizza spot, a new concept from the Serial Grillers team, will soon share the space with Craft, A Modern Drinkery at 4603 E. Speedway Blvd.

Transplant, which plans to open on Thursday, July 1, will double Craft’s real estate by adding 2,300 square feet. The two spaces will be connected inside and share a 12-foot opening — operating together to “form a super concept.”

Craft, who took a huge hit when the pandemic struck, will keep its name and decor but will add a wrap-around outdoor patio, and a small game space outdoors.

“March 17 of 2020 was a big day for us because it exposed a really big flaw in our business Craft, A Modern Drinkery,” said co-owner Travis Miller. “Since 2019, we have relied heavily on beer events and food trucks to provide buzz around our business and help drive traffic to our craft beer-centric bar. Within 24 hours we went from $3,000-$4,000 days to $50-$100 days.”

So, what can we expect from the new pizza shop? Aside from its rectangular pizzas, Transplant will also include pasta, salads, a fried chicken sandwich, and a cheeseburger.

Hmm…some noises coming from next door to Craft ? What could it be??? Big things to come, stay tuned!…

“This will be a nod to Detroit-style pizza but will have a familiar twist from our other restaurants; Serial Grillers, Toro Loco, and Boulevard BBQ,” said Miller. “We like to refer to the concept as ‘Born in Tucson, Inspired by Detroit.'”
