Taco Tuesday in Tucson: Al Pastor Tacos at El Chinito Gordo

“Taco Tuesday in Tucson” is a column where we explore the unique tacos stands throughout Tucson… on Tuesdays.

El Chinito Gordo opened up back in December 2019 at 2920 N. Oracle Rd., which previously housed Club 21 Mexican Food for 73 years, and it’s been dishing out the goods on Taco Tuesday (and other days of the week, too) ever since.

Whether it’s crispy or something on the softer side, the restaurant has plenty to choose from.

Let talk about the Los Soft Tacos, though, and more importantly the Al Pastor. The pork tacos, which are available a la carte for $3 each, are well-seasoned and juicy with a layer of sweetness and bits of char.

Plus, each taco is also served with cilantro, onions, and lime.

Being that you can order them individually, you can let your wild side shine by ordering any of the other soft tacos available, including the Carne Asada, Grilled Fish, Birria, Chicken Tinga with Chorizo, Grilled Chicken, Rajas con Queso, and Grilled Shrimp.

If you’re still hungry for more, take a stab at the Churro Nachos.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by a pile of cinnamon sugar bunuelo chips and bite-sized pieces of churros, and then topped with vanilla ice cream, sweet mango salsa, caramel, and chocolate.
