All of us here in Tucson get to live in “Flavortown” every day but now the folks in the Phoenix area get to experience it this weekend.

Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate party is firing up on Sunday, February 12 across the street from State Farm Stadium (where the Super Bowl is happening) at 9191 Cardinals Way in Glendale.

The festivities will kick off at 11:30 a.m. before the so-called Big Game.

The big party is hosting eight Arizona restaurant pop-ups that have all been featured on “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” — the cool kids just call it Triple-D. The Tucson restaurants joining are Inca’s Peruvian Cuisine, Renee’s, and Tumerico.

Inca’s Peruvian Cuisine has a goal of sharing all of the different flavors of Peru. From Peruvian corn to lucuma and chica morada, they’ve got quite the selection on the menu. Read our 2019 article, “From pisco to potatoes, Inca’s Peruvian Cuisine does Peru proud.”

Renee’s, formerly Renee’s Organic Oven, has a menu of incredible pizzas, pasta, salads, garlic knots, and just about anything that’ll satisfy any eater. Read our November 2022 article, “What’s in a name? How Renee’s pared down & grew up.”

Tumerico has been in the news lately after it was announced that Wendy Garcia is now a James Beard Award semi-finalist. During her Triple-D episode, Guy Fieri couldn’t believe her food vegan — it’s that tasty.

Aside from the local restaurants, the Flavortown Tailgate will have a handful of “Guy’s Custom Concepts” serving up food, a “Taste of Arizona” exhibit that’ll feature a few Arizona restaurants, and then plenty of cocktails and cold drinks to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

Tickets are free for the first 10,000 people (all ages welcome) that register online and you’ll be notified by Tuesday, February 7 if you’ve been selected. Plus, you don’t need a ticket to the Super Bowl to get into this event since it’s across the street (true tailgate-style).

Also, what’s Flavortown without some flavors for your ears? Diplo and Locash will be performing live, which is sponsored by California’s country music festival Stagecoach.

Guy’s Flavortown Tailgate will be located at 9191 Cardinals Way, Glendale, Arizona. To register for free tickets, visit guysflavortowntailgate.com.
