The summer heat in Tucson tends to lure folks to the Sonoita area for good old-fashioned winery excursions. We know the beauty that’s out there and now USA Today has fallen head over heels for one of the newer wineries out there.

Recently, the publication released its new list of “10 Best New Winery Experiences in the U.S.” and Elgin’s Los Milics Vineyards made it in the top three. The list was thrown together by a panel of wine experts and the focus was on wineries that have opened in the past four years.

USA Today shared the following about Los Milics:

“Wine with grapes grown in the desert? Yes. Los Milics is producing hand-selected varietals in southern Arizona, one of the fastest-growing wine regions in the United States. Its production facility, tasting room, and casitas are located in the Sonoita AVA, and notable wines are named after family members (e.g. Betty’s, Stephanie’s, and Renato’s). There’s also an impressive large-scale art installation at the entrance.”

In 2014, Pavle and Ita Milic launched their Los Milics wine label, with the help of Kelly and Todd Bostock of Dos Cabezas WineWorks, and mid-last year opened their tasting room to the public.

“Nestled at the foothills of the Mustang Mountains, it’s hard to not immediately fall in love with the vision that the Los Milics team has set forth for themselves,” said Addie Ibarra of Tucson Foodie. “Honestly, even without the stunning property views and tasting spaces, the wine speaks for itself, and it’s saying ‘You’re going to want to take a bottle or six home.'”

Los Milics was the only Arizona winery to make the list, which includes vineyards in San Jose, California, Newberg, Oregon, and Walla Walla, Washington.

Los Milics Vineyards is located at 423 Upper Elgin Rd. #824, Elgin, AZ. For more information, visit losmilicsvineyards.com. The winery is open Thursday – Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
