Beaut Burger Celebrates 5 Years of Burger Bliss at the MSA Annex

On June 8, 2018, a novel concept, in a novel shopping center, swung open its “Order Here” window.

At the time, owners Ari Shapiro and Kerry Lane — who developed Falora together — were not wholly sure that the world was ready for a fully vegan classic burger joint (in a restored shipping container, no less?).

Five years later, the answer is a resounding “heck yes!”

Tucson has been utterly taken with Beaut Burger, and its home base of MSA Annex, both an integral part of the burgeoning Mercado District. From day one, they have embraced the plant-based versions of staples like cheeseburgers, reubens, eggsalad, pulled pork, and wings.

The fact that Beaut makes everything from scratch, starting with its signature patty, has endeared customers to them through the half-decade.

“A lot has shifted since we opened in the plant food realm, including the arrival of many mock meat options; we love to see the growth in this arena, but our focus has been on a scratch kitchen, using whole ingredients,” said Shapiro.

“It’s amazing how much produce we plow through to create this diverse menu, and how our amazing cooks handle the prep-intensive methods to bring it to life,” Lane, a trained macrobiotic chef, added.

Of course, taste is what actually matters, and Beaut has hit a home run in that category, garnering rave reviews throughout town, and even on a national level; their burger was voted one of the best in the country by Tasting Table. The company recently launched a direct ship division and has been sending its proprietary patty and English Muffin to folks in almost every state, to make at home.
