When it comes to affordable sustenance around the world, rice and beans have reigned supreme for centuries. But you can’t eat the combo plain. It needs flavor.
At Fourth Avenue restaurant TallBoys, the Bean and Rice Bowl ($8) takes Mexican inspiration with a combination of cheese, veggies, avocado, chipotle crema, pico de gallo, pickled onions, green onions, and cilantro.

Although the portion is large enough to easily feed two, if you’re sharing, you might as well spend the extra few bucks for some “farm fresh tots.”
TallBoys is located at 600 N. Fourth Ave. For more information, call (520) 999-8269 or visit tallboysaf.com.
