Foodie 15: Where to get your late-night grub on in Tucson

Sep 23, 20227 min read

Whether following a show at a local venue, arriving home late from travel, wrapping up a busy second shift, or anything else that might have you needing to curb the growling of your belly after 10 p.m., it’s always important to have some go-to options when late-night hunger strikes.

Allow this handy guide of late-night Tucson Foodie favorites to be just that.

Bison Witches

326 N. Fourth Ave.

With over 20 made-to-order sandwich options and portion sizes that are out of this world, Bison Witches is a good one to have in your late-night arsenal.

Mix and match your favorite pieces from their menu until 11:45 p.m. daily.

For more information, visit bisonwitches.com

Casa Marana Craft Beer + Wine

8225 N. Courtney Page Way #191

With a menu consisting of appetizers, paninis, and in-house brick oven Neo-Neapolitan style pizzas, the food options are a plenty at Casa Marana. And from Thursday – Saturday, you can get your late-night food fix until 11 p.m. (and until 9 p.m. Sunday – Wednesday).

Who doesn’t love having a family-owned, scratch-made kitchen option when scouring for late-night eats? We sure do. Any item on Dante’s Fire’s menu can be ordered until a whopping 2 a.m. from Thursday – Sunday and until 10 p.m. the other nights of the week. Midtown Tucson suddenly seems even sweeter, am I right?

Open until 2 a.m. daily, Elliott’s has earned a loyal following from workers in the food industry. Its kitchen closes at midnight, and we highly recommend the Bacon Rangoons and Cod Tacos.

The popular watering hole next door to the Rialto Theatre doesn’t stop at offering quality wine, craft cocktails, and brews. Good Oak‘s food menu, though small in size, is mighty. Stop by before or after catching a show or as you’re strolling about downtown, and order one of their tasty dishes.

The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, but the real late-night eats jackpot is on Friday and Saturday when you can order from their menu until midnight.

Stepping foot in the gorgeous 160-year-old courtyard is worth the trip alone. However, Nightjar was created with joy in mind, and that has come to include Friday night movies on the patio, scintillating craft cocktails, and a late-night menu courtesy of sister restaurant, The Coronet.

For the night owls, be sure to cash in your “ticket to late night yummy,” which includes specials from 9 p.m. to close. Nightjar’s food offerings are available until 11:30 p.m. Thursday – Saturday and until 10 p.m. on Sunday.

In the words of Jackie Tran, Omar’s — housed inside the Tucson Truck Terminal (the Triple T) — is the closest thing Tucson has to the diner from Pulp Fiction. The food is marvelous, too, and you can order anything from their menu any time of any day. 24/7, baby.

Red Garter has been a hidden neighborhood classic for over half of a decade now. And while local Midtown menus that cater to the night crowd seem few and far between, Red Garter offers their full menu until midnight on Friday and Saturday (and until 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday).

The Royal Room

450 N. Sixth Ave.

From colorful glass windows to quirky zebra wallpaper, The Royal Room definitely has a vibe. Not to mention $5 Old Fashioneds and margaritas, and $6 glasses of draft red or white wine poured daily from open to close.

But did you know they serve food? That’s right. With a menu that includes a selection of made-to-order grinders, nachos, tots, and more, they’ve also got you covered on the food front until 11 p.m. daily (availability subject to change). Talk about getting treated like royalty.

Between the pools, hot spring and cold plunge, water slide, yoga, live music, complimentary bike rentals, and their nostalgic “Summer Rewind” experience, there was always something to do. We never left the resort.

The highlight at their on-site restaurant, Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails, was the Pollo Con Rajas - perfectly cooked chicken over a rich creamed poblano, onion, and corn mestizaje. And if you’re at their Sundance Café for breakfast, get the pozole. It’s made from a family recipe that became such a guest favorite it earned a permanent spot on the menu.

Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona.

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just looking for an incredible dinner with Catalina Mountain views, this spot is worth adding to your list. 🌵🌞
