Throwback to the ’80s & ’90s with OBON’s New Cocktail Menu (VIDEO)

Throwback to the ’80s & ’90s with OBON’s New Cocktail Menu (VIDEO)

Mar 26, 20191 min read

OBON Sushi Bar Ramen’s new cocktail menu brings back fond memories, such as watching The Fresh Prince — when Will Smith moved in with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air — or when the Looney Tunes faced off against the Nerdlucks in the movie Space Jam, or the time Britney Spears was a reigning pop princess.

OBON bar manager Marlee Palmer wanted to stray away from the “serious” tone she set with her last cocktail menu and added a personal touch of ’80s and ’90s pop culture flair to dive bar classics.

In addition to their house-made fruit syrups and house-infused spirits, the throwback-themed menu incorporates ingredients such as Ramune Japanese soda, absinthe-soaked tapioca pearls, Nerds candy, and toasted marshmallows.

Highlighted cocktails:
  • Party Time Excellent
  • It’s Britney, Bitch
  • Revenge of the Nerdlucks
  • Stay Puft

OBON Sushi Bar Ramen is located at 350 E. Congress St. For more information, call (520) 485-3590 or fukushuconcepts.com/obon/tucson.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.
