Summer seems to be the prime time to eat, shop and enjoy local. Between Desert Harvesters’ mesquite milling, Local First Arizona’s Indie WeekSummer in the City deals, the Food Conspiracy Co-op’s annual Eat Local Challenge is about to kick off.

For the first two weeks of July, get ten percent off all local produce, grocery, prepared foods, beer and wine, and wellness items. Last year, customers took advantage of $1,883.14 in Eat Local Challenge discounts.

The Co-op’s discounted selection is appealing for nearly any shopper, with options from over 65 different local businesses. These include favorites like Exo Roast cold brew, RBar Energy Bars and Sky Island beef.

Discounts apply to locally made wellness items, as well, from Kuumba Made, Kate’s Magik, and Desert Tortoise Botanicals.

If you live or work near the Fourth Avenue location, drop in each day for 10% off one menu item from Conspiracy Kitchen.

Eat Local shopping list are available at the co-op to discover new items. After purchasing three products, get entered to win a $50 gift card and new Co-op t-shirt. Or, if you’re app-savvy, share your purchases on Instagram and tag the Co-op @Foodconspiracy or use the hashtag #TusonEatsLocal.

At the end of two weeks, two winners will be randomly chosen from the Shopping List drawing and from the Instagram photo entries.

Tucson’s biggest culinary week of the year starts with a celebration at @Thetreasury1929! Join Tucson Foodie on Monday, August 31, from 5–8 pm for the official @Sonoranrestaurantweek Kickoff Party.

Enjoy tasting stations from participating Sonoran Restaurant Week restaurants, plus a dedicated station from The Treasury’s culinary team. Sip on two signature cocktails featuring @donjuliotequila and @rombauervineyards, with beverage service by @breakthrubevaz. 

The night also includes live music from a DJ, photo booths, and access to all three floors of one of downtown Tucson’s most historic venues.

@Casaveratucson opens Aug. 12 at 7265 N. La Cholla Blvd., bringing regional Mexican cuisine to the former Tamarind space.

The 7,000-square-foot restaurant seats 200 guests with a large patio, and the design draws inspiration from a warm, old-world hacienda. The family behind Casa Vera is also known locally for Guadalajara Original Grill.

Casa Vera will be open daily from 3-9 p.m. Reservations are available through @opentable or by emailing reservations@casaveratucson.com.
