Summer of Support: $20 Dine-in & Takeout Deals to gobble up

Jul 6, 20204 min read

As the temps heat up, the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance is heating up the culinary scene with its “$20 for 2020 Summer Dine-in/out promotion.”

Throughout the months of July and August, local restaurants, breweries, and wineries are offering some awesome deals for just $20. Being that many of its charitable fundraising events have been canceled this year, SAACA is using this unique opportunity to still show their support to the community.

The nonprofit organization posted the following on their website:

“We have decided to donate all our annual media partnerships which would typically be used to promote these community events and give back to our chefs, culinary, and restaurant partners at no cost. We ask that you continue to support Tucson’s unique culinary heritage this summer, while supporting our chefs, restaurants and culinary makers who are most in need.”

Keep in mind, the $20 deals are only available throughout the months of July and August, so start planning your meals now — there’s a lot to choose from.

Heads up: Some of these meals are either dine-in or takeout only.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

Tucson’s barbecue options range from food trucks to full-service dining rooms. Some focus on classic Texas-style plates with butcher paper and simple sides. Others experiment with fusion dishes that blend barbecue with Mexican and Southwestern flavors. This variety gives diners plenty of options, whether they want a quick lunch or a sit-down meal.
