CHILES, CHOCOLATE & DAY OF THE DEAD FESTIVAL

Friday, November 1

Treat yourself to a delectable fusion of flavors and traditions at Tohono Chul’s Chiles, Chocolate, & Day of the Dead Festival! 

Celebrate two exciting days filled with vibrant Mariachi and Folklorico performances, local vendors showcasing Southwest-inspired crafts, and delicious culinary offerings like chile-infused drinks, hand-ground moles, and locally made chocolate. Kids and adults alike can get creative with themed craft activities and enjoy complimentary Día de los Muertos face painting, courtesy of Desert Diva Facepainting.

Don’t forget to visit our community altar, where you can leave recuerdos (remembrances) for your loved ones. These tributes will be taken to Tucson’s All Souls Procession on Sunday, November 3, and included in the unforgettable Burning of the Urn Ceremony.

DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS MOVIE NIGHT

“The event starts at 4 p.m. and there will be a traditional service and altar offering at 4:30 p.m., a live folklorico and mariachi performance at 5 p.m., and the film will start at 6 p.m. There will also be food trucks, vendors, arts and crafts, and face painters on site.”

Sabor ng Bayan

From 5 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, head over to 311 E. Seventh St. for Sabor ng Bayan. The event, which is taking place at the Fourth Avenue Coalition Space, is hosted by Filipino baker/chef Ate Kei’s Filipino Treats and sponsored by Tucson Foodie and This is Tucson.

“All vendors are local and most are Filipinos. We will also have a few vendors from our community that are showcasing ingredients from the Philippines in their products.”

The event is also free to attend.

Heirloom Farmers Markets Celebrate 10 Years in Tucson

From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, the Rillito Park Farmers Market is hosting a 10-year anniversary at 4502 N. First Ave. Underneath the Rillito Park Farmers Market Pavilions, they’re be hosting a “Chef at the Market” from The Coronet, live music from The Bennu, a free raffle, and other activities.

An Arizona Terroir Wine Dinner on the Maynards Kitchen Patio!

Menu:

  • Whipped Ricotta – poached pear, prosciutto, grilled flatbread, extra virgin olive oil, pear white balsamic

RANCHER’S TABLE: A YELLOWSTONE- INSPIRED DINNER AT TRAIL DUST TOWN

Saturday, November 9

Throw on some Wranglers and step into the world of “Yellowstone” — the popular television series featuring Kevin Costner — on Saturday, November 9 at Rancher’s Table: A Yellowstone-Inspired Dinner.

Trail Dust Town and the Savoy Opera House have teamed up with Jackie Alpers, photographer and author of “The Unofficial Yellowstone Cookbook,” to craft a menu that will make you feel like you’re dining with family at Dutton Ranch.

A five-course meal, country music by Mamma Coal and friends, and Western skill demonstrations by the world-renowned Loop Rawlins are what you can expect at this event, which is in celebration of the final episodes of Yellowstone.

Doors open to the Savoy Opera House at 6 p.m. with appetizers and entertainment, and then dinner is served at 7 p.m.Tickets to the dinner range from $55 – $70 per person (tax and tip are included in the ticket price). 2024 Chinese Chorizo Festival

This year’s festivities will include one-of-a-kind dishes, cocktails, and cultural programming at multiple locations. More than 25 participating restaurants and food vendors will be showcasing the overlooked story of Mexican and Chinese immigrant solidarity through the revival of the Chinese chorizo.

Up to 30 pounds of Chinese chorizo (15 pounds of vegan mushroom-based and 15 pounds of pork-based) will be distributed to each of the participating restaurants.

José Contreras, chef and owner of @Ameliastucson, is headed to New York City to cook alongside chef Alam Méndez of Washington, D.C.‘s Apapacho Taqueria for a collaborative dinner at the James Beard Foundation’s Platform at Pier 57.

The Aug. 11 dinner will celebrate the culinary traditions of Sonora and Oaxaca through a multi course menu centered on heirloom corn, traditional masa, and coastal flavors. Guests will also enjoy a cocktail reception, Mijenta Tequila pairings, and a Q&A with both chefs. The event begins at 6:30 pm at @Pier57.nyc. Tickets are $210 for dining table seats and $250 for the chef’s counter, and are available now at Jamesbeard.org.

Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona.
