Whether you scream for Brasil, Mexico, England, or any of the 35 countries represented in this year’s FIFA World Cup, these history-making soccer games (or football, for many of you) are not to be missed. Sure you could watch them at home, but isn’t the party half the fun? Unite with friends and strangers, eat, drink and experience the energy of the Cup at these Tucson venues.
Blanco: If you’re up in the foothills, enjoy extended happy hour from 1-6pm while watching the match on all Blanco’s TVs. Happy hour deals include 1/2 off Mexican beer and margaritas and select apps. Check Facebook for more details.
Bob Dobbs: This Sam Hughes neighborhood joint will stay open for all the World Cup games and will offer happy-hour discounts starting at 6 am! “We only do this once every four years,” says Bob Dobbs general manager Mikal Valenzuela (who is rooting for the U.S.).
The Depot: This sports bar boasts 24 plasma TVs and will be open for the U.S. games, offering 54-ounce pitchers of Bud for $6.50. If you aren’t an early rise, they’ve got you covered: many of the other games will be recorded and rebroadcast later in the day.
El Charro Café: The restaurant opens at 11 am and shows the U.S. and Mexico games on seven big-screen TVs. They’re also offering happy hour drink specials during the games. Check em out on Facebook.
Good Oak Bar: Looking for something a little less rowdy and a little more intimate? Revel in the romance of the World Cup at this Euro-style pub where dark wood lines the walls, with craft beer on tap and your best buds. They’ll be open early for every 3pm game. Hi-Fi Kitchen & Cocktails: This new open-air, downtown spot has something like 20 TVS, ranging in size from huge to insanely enormous, for maximum sports absorption. They’ll be showing games from 11am on and their full food menu is available late into the night. Check the HiFi Facebook page for updates on drinks and food specials.
Las Cazuelitas: They’ve got nine flat screens and will show ANY game requested starting at 6am. Plus $2 domestic beers and 50% off Appetizers. More info on their website.
Playground: This super convenient downtown location with a spacious air conditioned rooftop patio will be open for every single game, featuring drink and food specials, as well as other game day promotions. Follow Playground on Twitter for updates or check them out on Facebook.
Rialto Theater: If it’s creative tacos and soccer you want Rialto will be projecting the games on their 35 foot movie screen (almost like being there!) and Gio Taco will be catering games on June 16-17, 20-23 and Check in with Rialto for more details.
