Before you get too far into this article, don’t worry — the beloved Scorpion is still on Kon Tiki’s menu.
The team at the restaurant near the corner of Broadway Boulevard and Swan Road has excitedly debuted a new set of tiki drinks. So far, the new menu has been well-received by folk who have visited the tropical paradise at 4625 E. Broadway Blvd.
In fact, it’s been a very long time since Kon Tiki last updated its cocktail menu (I don’t have enough fingers to count the years). The new beverages were released earlier this month and the menu’s illustrations are a nod to Kon Tiki’s original 1963 menu.

Opening more than 60 years ago, the team behind Kon Tiki can now claim the restaurant as one of the last remaining, operational tiki restaurants from America’s mid-century tiki past. In recent years, Kon Tiki was named one of the best happy hour spots in Tucson by MyBartender.com.
The publication is fond of Tucson’s beloved tiki bar’s “Polynesian twist” when it comes to its cocktails.
“It’s been years since Kon Tiki has updated its cocktail menu and we wanted to up our game a bit, especially digging deeper back into the craft of vintage cocktails, while keeping a handful of our modernized best sellers.”

The new 1960s-style centerfold menu features 16 illustrations of classic Tiki favorites like the Three Dots & A Dash — this is the Morse code for V, which stands for victory. It’s a mixture of Flor de Cana rum, Appleton, rum, falernum, angostura, and allspice served in a tall tiki glass.
Then, there’s Last Rites — Martinique rum, lime, passionfruit, and falernum. It comes in a short glass topped with a flower and an orange slice. Keep scrolling to see the full menu!

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
