State Plate, a new original television series from “positive entertainment” channel INSP will feature El Charro Café in its Arizona episode Friday, November 4. The show follows its host, former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, as he travels the U.S. sampling each state’s most symbolic and popular foods.
Hicks will join El Charro owner and Executive Chef Carlotta Flores in the kitchen to fry up El Charro’s signature chimichanga.
The episode will also feature churro sheep stew from 47 Ranch, tepary beans from Tohono O’odham Community Action, Navajo fry bread from Emerson Fry Bread, and prickly pear cactus candy from Cheri’s Desert Harvest.
Each State Plate episode highlights a different state and their iconic foods.
